Bike Friendly Richardson

About (Legacy)

Established in 2009, Bike Friendly Richardson is a group of bicycle advocates promoting the continued creation of better cycling facilities and improved infrastructure in Richardson. Our focus is on education and increasing the ridership of those wanting to ride for transportation and pleasure over sport.

  • Increase bicycle ridership
  • Increase bicycle education
  • Increase bicycle awareness
  • Increase bicycle safety

We were the first north Texas group to be inspired by the spirit of Bike Friendly Oak Cliff and bring their momentum to Richardson.

As we grow into our own community, you’ll see an urban-suburban flair emerge from our group. Of course, our core mission will always be the same.

Our focus will always be with Richardson ridership, but we share our advocacy with all of our DFW neighbors.

UPDATE: Because of the great efforts of the Richardson City Council, City Management and Staff – as well as the involvement of our growing bike community – the City of Richardson has been recognized as a Bronze Level Bike Friendly Community by the League of American Bicyclists.

NEW UPDATE: The City of Richardson has renewed it’s Bike Friendly Community status for 4 additional years.

CONTRIBUTORS

Bike Friendly Richardson is not an exclusive club, but rather a voice for all non-sport cyclists in Richardson. This site is you, for you – and we welcome all contributions that benefit Richardson cyclists. We have a small group of facilitators that run this blog, manage the Facebook page and organize rides/events.
