For some reason, I always miss this event. This year, I’m going to do my best to make it out to the 5th Annual Great Southwest Bike Swap Meet. This is a one-day event where bicycle shops, frame builders and independent bike geeks can buy, sell, trade and show bicycle stuff. Sounds like a perfect way to spend a Sunday.

1100 Circle Drive, Fort Worth, Texas 76119-8111

The event will be in building 2300 on the north side of the campus. The entrance and exit will be on the northwest corner of the building and will be clearly marked.

It’s completely on the other side of the Metroplex, but well worth the trip.
The 4th Annual Great Southwest Bike Swap & Race is a one day swap meet hosted by Colonel’s Bicycles – where bicycle industry reps, frame builders and everyday bike geeks can get together and buy, sale and trade bicycle stuff. If you would like a table, prices start at $30 and go to $100. Looks like this year, it will be in conjunction with a cross race and criterium, hosted by Holland Racing.

There are at least 3 rides left on our October radar.
The first is happening this Tuesday, October 26 · 8:00pm – 11:30pm. FMD is hosting the Ride of the Living Dead, starting at Whole Foods @ Abrams. Looks like it will be a great time with some awesome zombies on bikes.
On Friday, October 29 · 7:00pm – 9:00pm, Fort Worth Critical Mass will be hosting Costumed Critical Mass!! It will kick off at Burnett Park in Fort Worth. Looks like it will be more costumed fun and well worth the trip to cow town.
If costumes or late night rides aren’t your thing, come on down to Knox/Henderson for Bike To Brunch hosted by Bike Friendly Knox Henderson. On Saturday, October 30 · 11:30am – 3:00pm, they will be meeting at the Pearl Cup on Henderson. Don’t forget to sign up on their FB event page.
The goal is to earn Fort Worth a nationally recognized, “Bicycle Friendly Community” designation from the League of American Bicyclists by 2015.
