Patriotic Bike

I did a recap of the Red, White and Bike Ride on Suburban Assault. Head over there if you want to read about it and see a few pics. Unfortunately, because I lead the group, I didn’t get very many pics of the actual ride. I hope other folks will have pics up soon.

Pics From The BFOC Spring Has Sprung Ride

I took a spin with the BFOC group today to tour the community gardens of Oak Cliff on their Spring Has Sprung Ride. The ride was a bit hot, but the stops were interesting and a bit inspirational.

Pics From The Cruise To The Cottonwood

Posted in Bicycle Events by dickdavid on May 1, 2010

It was a small group today for the Cruise To The Cottonwood (Art Festival). The Cottonwood Art Festival went up against the MS150 and the possibility of bad weather. Fortunately, the weather was perfect for a nice cruise through Richardson. Even though this was a one way ride, some of us hung out for a couple of hours and then took a return trip to the Galatyn Park.

The one thing we need to work on is promoting this group to more locals. Today’s ride had more folks from Allen and Arlington than from Richardson. Awareness will be our biggest priority.

Here are some pics from the ride:

Route For The Cruise To The Cottonwood

Posted in Bicycle Events by dickdavid on April 28, 2010

We finally got a chance to put together a map to the festival. It’s a short little 6.65 mile route – mostly through some really nice neighborhood streets.

We hope to see you there.

Here are more details about the ride.

Richardson Wild Ride – May 15

Posted in Bicycle Events by dickdavid on April 19, 2010

Every year Methodist Richardson Medical Center hosts the WildRide! Against Cancer. This year, BFR is going to join the ride and support the cause.

We set up a team and are welcoming anybody who wants to join. We need at least 3 more riders to complete the team, so just look for the Bike Friendly Richardson Team when you join or contact us for details.

The registration fee:
Team Riders (4 or more riders)- $25 each team member and each person is required to raise $100.

If you want to do the ride, but not as part of the BFR team, the registration is:
Adult Riders – $30 to April 30; $40 thereafter
Children under 12 – $15 to April 30; $20 thereafter
(I believe with no requirement to raise money).

As always, all are more than welcome to ride with our team. Given the casual nature of our group, we’re opting to do the shorter, 16 mile run. We’ll be doing our typical BFR pace.

We’re going to try and figure out a way to get some quick BFR T-shirts printed by the event for those joining the team.

DATE: May 15, 2010
TIME: 7:30 am (ride starts at 8:00 am)
WHERE: The start/finish of the ride and 5K walk/run is located in the Verizon parking lot – 2400 N. Glenville Drive

Click here to register for the ride. Just look for the Bike Friendly Richardson team if you want to join.

Disclaimer: This is not an official BFR event and all the proceeds are handled through the event organizers.

Pics From Today’s UCAT Breakfast Ride

Wow, what a great turnout. We all met up at the Richardson Cafe Brazil, enjoyed some great coffee, some great food and some awesome company. The ride was a bit windy, but the route was nice – taking us through an awesome part of Canyon Creek. Thanks again goes to Michael Y. for pulling this all together.

Here are some crappy pics from me along with some awesome pics from Wendy.

Pics From The BFOC Love Your Lane Bike Ride

Posted in Bicycle Events by dickdavid on February 15, 2010

Although it was extremely cold and we seemed to be against the wind the whole way, I had a great time riding with the Bike Friendly Oak Cliff Group yesterday at their Love Your Lane Valentine’s Day Ride. This group wasn’t as large as some of their other group rides, but the folks were just as awesome.

Here are some pics. Click here or on any of the images to see the rest.

Black Friday Ride

Posted in Bicycle Events by dickdavid on November 19, 2009

Take a spin and avoid the Black Friday crowds.

Please join us for an impromptu, casual ride to signify the kick-off of Bike Friendly Richardson.

We will be taking a spin through some quiet west Richardson neighborhoods. The pace will be casual and the route will be on low traffic roads.

We’ll start and finish at Santa’s Village (at the fountain in front of The Richardson Civic Center). The loop will be about 10 miles with a small Starbuck’s break in the middle.

Route Map:
